Although at first glance Botriver might seem like a sleepy little town, there are in fact multiple draw-cards for this village. Besides the hiking and horse-riding trails, quad-biking and fishing, there are many wine tours to take in the region. There is also the historical Botriver Hotel and Pub which is filled with memorabilia from yesteryear and well worth a visit.
Visit the oldest Mission Station in South Africa, with its beautiful setting at the foot of the Riviersonderend Mountains about 30 km from Caledon. Genadendal was established in 1738 by George Schmidt, who was sent by the Moravian Church to preach the Gospel to the Khoi people. The focus of the town is the Museum complex, which lies in near perpetual shade under ancient oak trees.

This area is so named after the Theewaterskloof dam in the area, which is the largest dam in the region and main water source to Cape Town. The dam is well known for its excellent bass fishing and watersport facilities, and the area is unique in beauty and provides a perfect backdrop to exciting activities such as hiking, golfing and biking.
