Chairman and Founder of Topteam: Geraldine Pickel
Geraldine Pickel originally established Topteam Productions (Pty) Ltd. in 1971 when she initiated the Television Production Industry in the Cape, and was responsible for many years of successful commercial production for Europe and the UK.
In this time Topteam was largely credited for encouraging the European film industry to use Cape Town as a film venue, which has today turned this city into a world-class film mecca. As far back as the early 80’s Cape Town was already recognized as “Little Hollywood” and since then it has become a number one venue on the film-makers map and today forms a large currency contributor to our economy.
Her involvement in the production of more than 350 commercials for international television saw productions like – Coca Cola, Mercedes Benz, BMW, Kodak, Konica, Wrigleys, Ola, Mentadent, Tshibo, Bahlsne, Hanuta Mon Cherrie, Maria Cron, Perlant, Pur, Omo and many more.
She has also successfully promoted, produced and directed national campaigns for General Motors, Orbit / Mercedes Benz, Nederberg, Sans, Trevira Cottonmark Calibri, to name but a few – as well as representing Kemps UK in South Africa and Red Box Germany and as a consultant for the Department of Tourism and Foreign Affairs in promoting South Africa overseas.

Managing Director of Topteam Management (Pty) Ltd / Topteam Capital Partners : Peter Legg
Peter Legg is currently owner and Managing Director of Topteam Management (Pty) Ltd – a Cape Town South African based Investment Management Firm serving local and international corporate clients in the areas of new investment business expansion and market positioning. He served 5 years with the Bank of England before emigrating to South Africa. Senior and General Manager Positions in Anglo American and Plate Glass Companies preceded developing as owner and MD of the largest specialist Flush Door and Plywood Panel Plant in SA.
He was responsible for the personal re-building of one of the Cape’s oldest farming units into a modern farming profitable enterprise producing export apples, peaches, and wine grapes. During his time in Villiersdorp he initiated the acquisition of the Elandskloof Irrigation Scheme from the Government and served as the First Chairman – supplying over 2000 hectares in irrigation water to local farmers. In addition he served on the Governing Body of De Villiers-Graaff High School – one of South Africa’s oldest educational institutions.
He is very well connected within the upper “echelons” of the South African business and political communities.

Liza Steyn joined Topteam in 2004. She obtained a National Certificate in IT as well as a National Higher Diploma in Information Technology in 2004 at the University of South Africa. She is trained as a Computer System Analyst, Technical Software Developer and IT Project Manager, and can program in a variety of technical programming languages whilst applying Object Oriented Analysis and Design such as C, C++, Visual Basic, COBOL, and Java. She was also trained in advanced database design and implementation using PL/SQL programming and utilizing databases such as Oracle and MySQL. She completed additional subjects in website design and creation utilizing HTML and CSS coding and Graphical User Interface design, and obtained the N+ and A+ qualifications.

He has been part of the Topteam on the West Coast for the past four years.

Douglas Legg joined Topteam in 1998. He was educated at Diocesan College and De Villiers Graaf High School and South African Naval College and Maritime Warfare School. He was the first officer to be selected to join the French Navy and served as a French Naval Officer aboard the helicopter carrier Jean D’ Arc, then returning to the South African Navy, served as Assistant Navigator on the SAS Drakensberg and then as a Combat Officer for four years aboard the Strike Craft SAS Kobie Coetzee.
Over the last nine years Douglas has been a valuable contributor in all aspects and activities of the Topteam Group.
